As you might have suspected from the lack of an update last week, the Niche Site Challenge has come to a screeching halt. It is hopefully just a temporary halt…for a few weeks over the holidays. Before things got busy, I managed to get all tasks in Phase 1 completed for the dog website but that’s as far as I got.
There has been a lot going on since the last update and I haven’t been able to find the time to work on my websites. Like most people, I have bills to pay and I need money to pay those bills. Most of my time is spent trying to make money by doing freelance writing & design and filling out surveys for research companies. This leaves me little time for other things. Things like cleaning the house, preparing for Thanksgiving, packing for my upcoming cruise (I leave in two weeks) and taking care of my dog (she’s had some digestive issues recently that required a few trips to the vet to figure out).
With Christmas, my birthday, and my Caribbean cruise (birthday gift – could never afford it otherwise) coming up, I’m going to be even busier. Holiday baking, shopping for presents, writing Christmas cards and decorating the house is probably going to take up most of my free time. For now, the Niche Site Challenge is paused until after January 1.
Quick Update on the Dog Website
As I mentioned above, I got all tasks in Phase 1 completed for the dog website. This includes updating all of the articles, fixing any broken links, rewriting reviews for out-of-date products, adding internal and external links, fixing grammatical errors and making sure the keyword density for each article is correct. All of this work has helped the site regain some traffic. Over the past few days, I’ve been getting sales on Amazon Affiliates from this site when I wasn’t getting many sales before. I’ll post a more detailed update at the 3-6-9 month marks, complete with graphs and charts, but it really looks like the Kitchen Sink Method is working which is very exciting!
I wish I had more time to devote to this project but it will have to be put on pause until the holidays are over. If I don’t make another update before the end of the month, then I hope your holidays are magical and you have a happy new year!
