I hope the new year is treating you good so far. I also hope you enjoyed the last post I published. I was really nervous about it going live. I haven’t gotten any hate mail or mean comments so I’m assuming people liked it. Today I’m going to discuss my S.M.A.R.T. goals for 2018.
It is important to set goals in order to grow our businesses and improve our lives. When you don’t set goals, you don’t know where you should be going or what to work towards. You’ll be wandering aimlessly through life. Sure, it works for some people but your life will be much better if you know where you are going.
I love to set goals. Not only do I set goals at the beginning of the year but I also set monthly, weekly and even daily goals. It helps me stay productive and on-task so I can achieve my long term goals and dreams. I’m going to share my 2018 goals with you today so you can hold me accountable. In one year, I want to make a year-end report and tell you about how I accomplished every single one of these goals.
The goals I will be making are S.M.A.R.T. goals. What are S.M.A.R.T. goals?
Your goals probably won’t be the same as mine but I hope this post motivates you to make your own S.M.A.R.T. goals for 2018. Most of the goals below are related to my plans for 2018.
Goal: Reach 500 RSS/Email Subscribers
I think this is going to be a challenge but it’s doable. As long as I keep posting amazing content and promoting Brainstorming In Motion on message boards and in blog comments, I think I can reach 500 subscribers by the end of the year. Some of the following goals will also help attract new subscribers.
Goal: Start a Facebook Page for BIM and Get 1000 Fans
Facebook is a great way to promote your blog and I don’t want to waste that opportunity here. I plan on starting a Facebook page before the end of the month and I’m going to use some of the techniques I’ve read about on other blogs to try to grow the page to 1,000 fans by the end of the year.
Goal: Post Amazing Content 3 Times A Week on Brainstorming in Motion
I want to continue posting great content for you at least 3 times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I’ve got some great ideas for posts, particularly some case studies I think you will be interested in.
Goal: Post 3 Articles Per Week to My Authority Website
My authority website is just a small niche site right now but my goal this year is to post 3 articles per week. The site will have at least 156 articles published by the end of the year which will make it an authority in it’s niche. This should increase both the traffic and the income to the site.
Goal: Write and Sell an eBook on My Authority Website
I would like to start writing my eBook around May and have it completed by July. I would like to have it for sale on my authority site by mid-September. I’ll be posting a case study about the entire process when I get started in May.
Goal: Start an Email List for My Authority Website by February 15, 2017
I always hear about how valuable email lists are, yet I never bother to create them for my websites. I would like to start an email list for my authority website at the beginning of the year so when it comes time to promote my new eBook, I can send out an email to the list to garner interest. The list could also come in handy when developing the book. I can ask for ideas on what people want in an eBook, send out free copies for review and see what people like or don’t like about the eBook. I’m also hoping to get at least 100 subscribers by August.
Goal: Increase My Amazon Affiliate Earnings to $3000 a Month
At the moment, I make around $1500 a month from the Amazon affiliate program. I plan on growing this number to $3000 a month by adding more content to my niche websites. I would like to add around 1500 articles (500-1,000 words each) to my 27 websites. I’m going to outsource this content using iWriter. I’ll write up a more detailed post about my budget for this in a few weeks. I’m hoping that all of this extra content will drive up traffic and will double my current earnings on the Amazon Affiliate program.
Goal: Upload 25 Profitable T-Shirt Designs to Merch By Amazon
As soon as I get my Merch by Amazon account approved, I would like to start designing and uploading t-shirts. After I get 25 designs uploaded, I plan to remove the unprofitable designs each month and replace them. I’ll keep doing that until I have at least 25 profitable designs on my account. I would love to be making at least $1,000 a month with my t-shirt designs but we’ll see how much money my t-shirts are really making at the end of the year.
Goal: Pay Off $15,000 in Student Loans
I have over $30,000 in student loans (if you’ve read my birthday post, then you’ve seen that I’ve graduated from 2 different schools) and it would be nice to cut that number in half this year. I don’t want to end up like my parents where I can’t retire because I have too much student loan debt. The plan is that after my vacation in February, I’ll pay extra towards my student loans each month. I’m not sure how much extra I can afford to pay yet but I’ll lock down the exact numbers in the next few months. I’m hoping I can afford an extra $1500 a month – in 10 months, that will be $15,000 which will be right on target.
What do you think? Let’s make 2018 the best year ever!
If you have any S.M.A.R.T. goals for 2018, please share some of them in the comments. I’d love to hear about them.
On Friday, I’ll be posting my first ever Monthly Income Report (for December 2017) so be sure to come back for that.
Cheers to an amazing 2018!
