August 2024 – Amazon Merch on Demand Income Report

August was a horrible month for me. I mentioned why in July’s income report but I elaborated in more detail in the intro of this post. Here is my August 2024 Amazon Merch on Demand income report

August 2024 Income Report

In August 2024, I made $73.01 with 16 sales and 2 returns for a total of 14 sales. I had 0 cancellations. I have 500 designs uploaded to 7,655 products. I sold 2 product in August – 15 standard t-shirts and 1 tote bag. The 2 returns were standard t-shirts. I only sold products in the USA although I have the designs uploaded to other countries.

I also spent a lot of money on advertising in August – approximately $8 more than July. I spent $28.82 and had 6 sales for an ACOS of 22.88%. I really wish the ACOS was lower but as long as it’s under 30%, I’m okay with it. Next month, I might try turning off advertising to certain shirts that are getting a lot of clicks but no sales. One shirt in particular had $7.55 worth of clicks in August but no sales. Turning off the advertising for that shirt would lower my ACOS significantly.

What Did I Do In August?

Despite my horrible month, I did manage to get one thing done in August. I choose a brand name for the niche I’m going to focus on as part of my marketing strategy. You can see how I picked a niche here: Amazon Merch On Demand – Let’s Pick A Niche! I used ChatGPT to come up with a list of 50 brand names related to my niche. Then I eliminated 10 that I didn’t like. Later I came back and eliminated 10 more. I kept eliminating names until I got down to 10 names. Then I searched each name on Instagram. If there was already an Instagram account with that name and that account had a following, I eliminated that name. I eventually got down to 2 names. I loved both the names but one of the names had a website with that name. It didn’t look like an active website as there hasn’t been any new posts since 2019 but to be safe, I went with the other name. I think this is a great name and I’m excited to start building a brand following and start selling more merch.

Goals for September 2024

  • Find 10 puns, quotes or jokes to use on t-shirts in my niche.

I choose only one goal because I’m still recovering from Covid and there’s only a week left in the month. Plus, I would really love to get tiered up before I start uploading designs related to the niche I choose. That means that I don’t have to rush to get through my marketing strategy as once I get the designs completed, I’ll be stuck waiting for my tier up before I can upload them which might not come for a while. I also don’t think this goal is as easy as it looks. I need to research the puns, jokes or quotes and make sure each one is popular and will sell on Amazon before I decided to go with them. I also have to make sure I can come up with a lot of different designs for each one as I would like to flood the market to discourage copy-cats. I’m hoping for a great Q4 so I can tier up sooner. I still need 170 sales before I can tier up. We’ll see how quickly I can get there.
