If you read the November 2024 Amazon KDP Income Report, then you’ll understand why the December report is so late. The holidays were super busy for me and I just didn’t have any time to dedicate to my business. The cool thing about passive income is that even if you don’t work on your business, you still make money. December was a record month for me despite not working on my books. For most people who work online, Q4 (October, November, December) is the most profitable time of the year and that was the case with KDP. I’ll stop talking now and show you what I mean.
December 2024 Income Report
In December 2024, I sold 192 books for a total income of $379.96. I published 3 new books the first week of the month and one of those books sold. I had a total of 30 books in the bookshelf at the beginning of the month and I ended the month with 33 books in my bookshelf. In December, I had had 22 coloring books, 3 log books, 6 scrapbook paper pad and 2 journals. I sold 9 coloring books (183), 2 log books (7) and 1 scrapbook paper pads (2).
Obviously, advertising costs were a lot higher than November. In fact, I doubled my cost over the previous month. My ACOS was great at 12.69% so I don’t mind the higher advertising costs. I spent $17.49 on ads which was double the cost of November at just over $7 and sold triple the number of books at 17. I’m currently only advertising in the United States but I really need to start advertising in other countries.
Total Amazon KDP Income for December 2024: $362.47
Previous Month’s Earnings
November 2024: $67.75
October 2024: $61.14
September 2024: $49.91
August 2024: $38.59
What Did I Do In December?
I was so busy in December that I didn’t get much done. The only thing I got done was I managed to upload 3 coloring books that I had completed in November. Other than that, I didn’t work on KDP at all.
Goals for January 2025
- Publish 10 books
I’m only making one goal for January because the month is already half over and I’m leaving for vacation next week. I’m not even sure I can get this goal done but I’ve got to try. I really want to keep the momentum going by continuing to publish new books.
Overall, I’m super happy with how December turned out. I tripled my earnings from November and it seems like that momentum is being carried into January. If I keep plugging along, I think I’ll be able to reach my goal of $3,000 a month within the next year or two. I’m going to be creating a 2024 Year in Review post where I’ll give a more detailed look at what worked in 2024, what didn’t work in 2024 and lay out my plans and goals for 2025. I’m not sure when that post will be published but hopefully by the end of the month.
